Chapter 8: Page 21 - Communication

Posted by / in Comic / 22 comments

I am tired of being busy busy bust with school and stuff. From now to the middle of January I shall be a ball of proposal writing stress. Don’t mind me.

Once this chapter ends in a couple pages we may be on a bit of a pages break until after the holidays, for both the aforementioned proposal writing stress and to let Seba get a bit ahead. So if anyone wants to make some guest art (Thanks random John Doe who emailed me one! I wish I knew who you were to credit you when I post it) I would gladly post it during this break time.

Jane and Tenzin start hashing SOME things out. But at least they’re at the point now where they are able to talk about what’s bothering them instead of just ignoring each other. No longer a sitcom where the characters only problems are the lack of communication, at least.

  • Ah, closure at last! I’m so happy to see Tenzin has finally reached acceptance and is ready to start moving on with his life.
However, I get the sense that with all the things going on in the background, things are about to go very wrong here. We still don’t know what Flashdrive Guy was up to…

    • Adriano

You mean, the Dam(n) Engineer ?

    • Maarten Spreij

Nah man, everything up to now was just creating the setting! We’re gonna have a badass cyborg soldier enhanced with a teenager AI kicking ass in an apocalyptic wasteland - really, what else could you ask for?!

    • Rawles Roberts III

You see this as closure, I see it as a beginning of a ‘new’ relationship between them. And they wouldn’t keep Viktor around without some plans for him, if only as a reminder of Tenzin’s failures (like he needed that).

  • Adriano

Grumpy Tenzin finally smiles ! Wooohoo !!! o/
    (last panel) (it’s a smile) (I swear)

    • Delta-v

      I agree. ^^

  • Maarten Spreij

    Digging Jane’s new look!

  • l33tninja

    “pinky promise?”
    “Uh, Tenzin, I don’t have pinkies…”
“Well crap. I can never trust you, then.”
    “…yet”
    “Wait, wut?”

    • DeNitro

“You want trust Tenzin, prepare for max length encryption key recode.” “No,, Jane, not a one terabye k,,,” Tenzin started to protest before he froze, then with eyes rolled back in his head starts to mindlessly chant binary….

  • Delta-v

Well, now that that’s out of the way, they can focus on their common enemy, President Dirtbag. :)

“and to let Seba get a bit ahead. ”
Until he is inevitability hunted down by various in story characters until he relents and is dragged back by a D-bot that is whistling the tune “whistle while you work”?

  • Oh wow, a breakthrough on both sides of the situation. Progress!!

  • Delta-v

Pa-tay-to, pa-tah-to. Works for me either way. :)

Umm.. I have bad ideas about where to take this coupled with nanomachines.

    • Delta-v

      Does it involve Tactical Bricks?

      • Matt [in Middletown]

Only to render someone unconscious so that the mind leech tendrils can take hold.

  • Bruce Greenwood

“And while we’re being completely honest, this is actually all still in your head. You’re really a 7 year-old named Sascha.”

  • Hipopótamo

Well, Tenzin, you could have trusted your AI way before. I wonder how important is Tenzin for all the bureaucratic machinery and how long he will be given free transit around the facilities. Good thing is they don’t know yet about Jane’s escapades…

  • ZathrasSquared

“If you’d just listened to me, the Keleres might still be alive right now!
But probably not. I mean, it would have come out after us, and you saw what it did to the two APCs. We’d have been caught in the open and slaughtered.”

    • Heh, she was actually referring to her earliest counsel that they not even go in Arkjut at all without backup :D And, you know, struggling to get a handle on her newfound emotions. Such fun illogical feelings!

      • Adriano

        “fun”…
        *glares at you*

      • Henrik Svantesson

Considering that waiting for backup would not have been particularly surprising, I’d wager that the robot’s controllers had plans in place for that eventuality.
